Indiana PTA and Me

Welcome to Indiana PTA
Empowering Families. Supporting Schools. Strengthening Communities.

Who We Are?
The Indiana Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is a statewide nonprofit organization committed to making every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children.

For over a century, Indiana PTA has been the trusted voice for parents and teachers across the state. We are part of the National PTA network, the largest volunteer child advocacy organization in the United States.

Why PTA?
Joining or starting a PTA at your school brings lasting benefits:
  • Stronger School-Home Partnerships
PTA builds bridges between families, educators, and administrators to work together for student success.
  • Advocacy at Every Level
Indiana PTA champions policies that support children’s education, safety, and well-being at the local, state, and national levels.
  • Leadership and Growth
Parents and educators gain access to leadership training, networking opportunities, and personal development.
  • Resources and Support
From funding ideas to program toolkits and legislative updates, we provide everything you need to run an effective PTA.
  • A Voice for Every Child
PTAs ensure all families—regardless of background—have a seat at the table when decisions are made.

The top two reasons we hear parents say they don't join PTA are:
1) They were not asked.
This is us asking!
2) They do not have time. What if I told you that the amount of time you spend participating in your school's PTA is 100% up to you!
You could pay your dues and walk away.
You could pay your dues and read an email from your PTA from time to time to stay up to date.
You could donate once or twice for a conference meal.
You could come to your PTA unit's meeting to be "In The Know".
You could join a committee and help out!
You could run one committee or event.
You could become a board member and help grow the PTA at your school.
PTA takes no time requirement if you do not want to.
