Be A Unit In Good Standing

Keeping your PTA In Good Standing only takes "7" easy steps...find out how below!
Picture
Submit your Officer's List

Every year your unit should submit your officers to Indiana PTA as soon as they are voted in. This is how we stay in contact with your unit throughout the year.
Submit your 25-26 officer's list here

Annual State Training

Your unit is required to attend at least one state provided training each year. Find out more about upcoming dates by clicking the link below.

Membership Dues

PTA is a membership based organization. Your unit should be collecting dues per your bylaws. There are 3 parts to the dues you collect; National, State, and Local.  On November 15 Indiana PTA's first round of membership dues ($6.25 per member - the state and national portion starting for the 25-26 fiscal year) are due. Second round is due by March 15.

To stay in good standing you must have at least 20 members for the fiscal year.

 Annual Financial Review

Indiana PTA must perform your review at least every other year.
The fiscal year wraps up on June 30 each year. Once you have your June 30 bank statement and have double checked your books/paperwork, contact your FSR to set up a pickup date. November 15 is the deadline for your FSR to submit this to Indiana PTA.

Please note: Between the end of the fiscal year and the time you get your books returned you should not be spending any money.

Insurance

All units must have insurance and provide proof to Indiana PTA.

 Coverage must be at minimum:

$25,000 crime
$1,000,000 liability
Aim Insurance is a highly recommended to get your coverage through.

Bylaws

Reviewed and Approved every five (5) years. Contact your Field Service Representative to find out when your unit's bylaws are due for renewal. Your FSR will be getting with you soon to make sure you are up to date. If you need a copy of your current bylaws let us know.  You should always have a copy of your current bylaws on hand that can be provided to your membership if requested.
Have you turned in bylaws and are still waiting on them or have other questions about bylaws? Please reach out to our Bylaw Coordinator at [email protected]

Taxes
Federal- The IRS Form 990/990-EZ or Form 990-N (e-postcard) is due November 15 to the IRS and Indiana PTA. If your average revenue is more than $50,000 a year over a 3 year period, your FSR will work with you to file a longer form. Your Field Service Representative (FSR) will file your 990-N with the IRS and Indiana PTA.

State- In 2023 the Indiana Department of Revenue changed how NP-20s are filed. Indiana PTA now files this for each of our units on a rolling 5 year schedule.  Your filing year will be determined by the last 2 digits of your Federal ID Number (EIN).  Mid year during your fiscal filing year you will receive a letter from the Indiana Dept. of Revenue at your school. As soon as it arrives email a copy to [email protected]

May 15, 2024 - 00 through 24
May 15, 2025 - 25 through 49
May 15, 2026 - 50 through 74
May 15, 2027 - 75 through 99

After the date shown above, the organization must file Form NP-20R by May 15 every fifth year. It is important for Indiana PTA to have a copy of your books in order to properly submit your taxes.
