Message from Region VP, Heidi Rueger
Welcome to the Southern Region page of the IN PTA website. I am
Heidi Rueger your new IN PTA Southern Region VP. Whether you
are an established PTA, new PTA, or thinking about becoming a PTA,
our Southern Region Board Members are here to help!
The Southern Region team consists of Cathy Coffman, Natalie Jones,
Kendra Rakestraw, Hope Wells, John Wells, Laurie Wright, and me.
We are also honored to have the IN PTA President, Barry Jones
living right here in the Southern Region! These individuals are very
knowledgeable when it comes to PTA and we encourage you to
contact any of us at any time.
Your Field Service Representative from the IN PTA will be contacting
you throughout the year with important information. Please invite them
to come to your PTA unit’s meetings. We look forward to working with
your unit to help you become a strong voice for our children. You will
also receive e-mails and the weekly “Good News” from the state office
to keep you updated.
Our Southern Region will offer several training events to help you
during the year. Officers, as well as key committee chairmen will want
to attend these events. These will be great leadership training
opportunities for your unit. Making sure you will have a great PTA
year is one of our goals! Please check back regularly as we will
update this site with more information.
Another resource from which to garner information is by attending the
monthly Evansville Area Council PTA meetings. Please be sure to send
at least one representative to each of these meetings. A wealth of
information about upcoming events, PTA deadlines, information on PTA
programs offered to your unit and your students will be discussed…
…plus much more !
The larger our membership the louder our voice is heard!
Thanks for all you do for ALL Children!

CLOTHING BANK
CLOTHING BANK VOLUNTEER ASSIGNMENTS
The Area Council PTA Clothing Bank has been clothing children since the early 1950’s. Our operation is possible only with the help of the schools through monetary contributions, clothing drives, donations of hygiene products, and through the hard work of your volunteers. We ask that each school send at least three volunteers per day on their assigned dates to assist in sorting, sizing, and preparing clothing for distribution. If you cannot provide volunteers on the dates assigned, please call Washington Middle School, 477-8983, and leave a message for the Coordinators. We would appreciate your volunteers from 6-8:30 PM during the Wed work night for your high school district. That means if you are an elementary school, you would send volunteers on the night your high school district is assigned.
The Clothing Bank is located in Washington Middle School, 1801 Washington Avenue. Clothing Bank hours are 9-1 AM on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, when school is in session, August through October. From November thru May we are open Tues-Thurs. For safety and efficiency, we request that volunteers not bring preschool children and infants. Your assistance is vital in meeting the needs of our children. Thank you!
Check with the Evansville Area Council officers for the schedule.
