Advocacy Award

Criteria

ALL award applications are due Feb. 1st of each year. Units MUST use the official Award Form, found by clicking the ‘Award Form’ button to the left. No award applications will be accepted without the proper form.

SELECTION CRITERIA

This award will be bestowed upon an individual or unit that exemplifies Beverly’s passion to engage parents by actively communicating and educating legislative issues on behalf of children across Indiana.

The individual or unit will be evaluated on the following:

  • Attended the Indiana PTA Legislative Conference
  • Communicated with legislators via email or U.S. mail (provide photocopies)
  • Responded to, promoted, and supported Legislative alerts and other activities (provide photocopies)
  • Submitted a Resolution to the Indiana PTA for consideration and/or adoption
  • Shared or communicated legislative information with parents via newsletters, web pages, emails, etc.
  • Attended School Board Meetings (provide copy of meeting agenda)
  • Attended Regional Legislative training, forum, etc.
  • Attended the National Legislative Conference
  • Up to 2 page essay describing how the individual or unit advocates for children

Describe how this individual or unit has advocated for children including:

  • What issues were identifi ed and addressed?
  • What was the plan and what were the results of your actions?
  • How were these efforts communicated, promoted and supported?
  • What outreach efforts were made to include families and community?
